A downloadable game
Port of Slugcaster only for the Gameboy Color. It does not work on the DMG/Pocket or SuperGameboy. The game is quite dark, so it is recommended to play it on a modded Gameboy or an emulation device for a more enjoyable experience. Especially the colors pop better on backlighted devices.
Inputs:
Game:
D-PAD — move and shoot
Title screen:
- A / Start: Start the game.
- B: Swap the palette. You can choose from eight available palettes. Palette swaps automatically on each start.
- Select: Go to Credits.
Credits screen:
- B / Start: Go back to the title screen.
- Hold Select for 3 seconds: Delete highscore.

Gamedev notes:
I discovered this small game couple years ago and always wished to play it on the original Gameboy. Obviously, due to technical limitations, I had to scale some things back, but aside from the flickering, I think the result is acceptable. I would have loved to use the original music, but my skills with trackers are very limited, so I used a song from Beatscribe instead. If someone is able to recreate the song in the .uge format, I would be happy to implement it.
The high score stops at 999. If you’re crazy enough to reach it, a winner is you. Have fun! (I wouldn’t bother.)
